What to wear
Myanmar is a conservative country, so modest dress is expected. For women, shoulders and knees should be covered. In general, revealing clothing should be avoided, especially when visiting Buddhist temples and other religious sites where you will be turned away if your clothing is not appropriate. Men’s dress code is not nearly as strict but remember that knees do have to be covered at religious sites. For both men and women, clothing should be neat but can be casual.
Open-toed shoes are acceptable and practical as you must remove your footwear and socks when visiting religious sites.
Packing for Myanmar depends entirely on when you will be traveling as the weather and rain levels can vary dramatically throughout the year. Quick-dry clothing and a lightweight raincoat are a must during the rainy season.
